Designing a Move

The Big House finally sold and we shrank our living space to almost half. Fortunately, our daughter got an apartment, so some of the furniture migrated south to college. But let me tell you, moving all your possessions, and your business is not an easy process! The new place is only the second place I have lived where I didn’t build the house. So, living in a space where someone else had made all the decorating choices is a challenge for me. There was definitely redecorating to be done! That counts as design, right? So, I figured I would tell you about the journey to “make the house our own.”

First - if you don’t watch Sarah’s House on HGTV, set your Tivo box TODAY! She is charming, funny and her designs are friendly and doable—but spectacular when finished. I am hooked. I especially love it when she goes to a vintage, consignment or antique store, picks up a piece that is desperately in need of love, and makes it beautiful.  She will then incorporate it into her newly designed room. Of course, I make hubby watch, so he doesn’t laugh at me when I bring home “junk” as he calls it. I have totally been inspired by her. Here are a couple of images from her show last season, so you can see what I mean.

Amazing, huh? Stay tuned and you will see how Sarah has inspired me in the re-designing of the interior of my new space. I’ll even give you hints and places to shop to get great deals and a great look.
