tickled pink

Ok, I have to admit. I have been a fan of pink ever since that little bundle of baby girl came into my life 21 years ago. It’s a good thing, too, because anyone who has ever raised a daughter knows, PINK can overtake your life if you let it. We’ve had pink baby dolls, pink ballet slippers, pink backpacks, pink prom dresses and a pink dorm room. You name it, I have probably bought it in pink.

So I was excited to see announcement today that PANTONE’s 2011 COLOR OF THE YEAR is (drum roll please HONEYSUCKLE! I LOVE this color. I personally call it watermelon or salmon, and I call it my “summer red”. Gorgeous with a tan. Great on everyone. Vibrant, fun, and happy. It is also a perfect polish color to paint your toes year round. There is even a Honeysuckle Visa you can use to buy all that new Pink Stuff you’re gonna need to look fashionable!

“There’s an innate optimism to pink,” says Jonathan Adler, an interior and housewares designer who is using hot shades of pink widely in his 2011 collections.

‘It’s a very “Mad Men” pink. It’s like the lipstick our mothers wore,’ says Tom Mirabile, head of global trends and design at Lifetime Brands Inc., the company behind Mikasa, Cuisinart and other houseware brands. “There’s a retro aspect to it that’s going to be very popular.”

Here is a link to the Pantone announcement, where you can also get Honeysuckle color mixes for your paint, plastics (for you Barbie inventors!) and fabrics, as well as, your traditional CMYK and RBG mixes for your print projects. http://shar.es/Xq73F.  So remember, THINKPINK!
